AIR RAGE STAR CAUTIONED
Rock singer and actress Courtney Love has been cautioned by police after being arrested at Heathrow Airport for abusive behaviour on board a plane.
The widow of Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain was arrested after flying in to London from the US.
She was later released after being cautioned under the Public Order Act for causing harassment, alarm and distress to another person, Scotland Yard.
As the singer left Heathrow Police Station she said: "I cussed at a lady - my daughter always said I had a potty mouth - I cussed at a lady named Mary, she wasn't letting my friend into first class and I said, why are you being sucha bitch about it."
'Prime suspect'
Asked how she felt about her treatment at the hands of the airline she said: "I think that I have been flying British Airways for a long time and I will continue to do so. This is my second time on Virgin and my first time wasn't so great either."
Asked what the previous nine hours had been like inside the police station, the singer said: "It was fine. They were wonderful in there. It was like being on Prime Suspect."
A spokesperson for Virgin Atlantic said the singer had been "disruptive and verbally abusive" to cabin crew during the flight from Los Angeles.
The spokesperson said: "Disruptive passengers are rare but like other British airlines, we take their behaviour very seriously."
The crew notified the pilot, who called Air Traffic Control about the problem. Police were waiting for Love when the plane landed at Heathrow at 11am.
The singer was thought to be travelling to London to attend a star-studded concert at the Old Vic theatre tomorrow night.
Naked
The fundraising extravaganza is being hosted by Sir Elton John and Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey.
Love is a volatile star with a long-standing reputation for unpredictable behaviour and is this week pictured naked on the cover of Q music magazine.
She was photgraphed running down a central London street during the photoshoot, which took place in December.
Love also had a Brazilian bikini wax in a room full of people during the shoot and poured a bottle of champagne over her head.
The star found fame in the 1990s with her raucous guitar band Hole and went on to carve out an acting career for herself.
The 37-year-old is currently in a long-running dispute with her record company.
