Stone sues after facelift claim
The 46-year-old actress at the recent Ocean's Twelve premiere
Actress Sharon Stone is suing a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon for falsely claiming that he gave her a facelift.
The actress is seeking unspecified libel damages from Renato Calabria in a Los Angeles Superior Court case.
Stone "prides herself not only on her acting ability and other talents, but also on her natural physical appearance," the claim states.
Mr Calabria's lawyer, Arthur Barens, denied that his client stated he performed plastic surgery on Stone, 46.
The legal case cites articles in two US magazines, US Weekly and In Touch magazine which raised the question of whether Stone had plastic surgery and suggested it was carried out by Dr Calabria.
The Basic Instinct star, who claims it was Calabria or his associates who contacted the magazines, says that the allegations damaged her reputation.
'Natural beauty'
"Sharon Stone has a reputation for her natural beauty and glamour," legal documents stated.
"While she certainly respects others' choice to do so, Sharon Stone has never undergone a face-lift in order to improve her physical appearance."
But Dr Calabria denied the accusations.
"Dr. Calabria has never told anyone that he has [performed] surgery on Sharon Stone," said Arthur Barens, lawyer for Dr Calabria.
"All he has ever done is discuss vertical face surgery, a technique he innovated and articles have speculated that Stone had the procedure."
The actress also accuses Dr Calabria of putting the magazine articles on his website to "boast" of his purported professional relationship with her.
"He has a right to choose any articles that reference his name and his practice," said Mr Barens.
