Stingray’s gutted when Sky unwittingly reveals the extent of Serena’s attraction to Boyd. Dylan advises Stingray to show some self-respect and end his relationship with Serena. Determined to shield Boyd from the truth, Sky makes Stingray promise to keep his hurt to himself. But Stingray finds it very difficult to hold his tongue and Boyd’s confused by his friend’s strange behaviour. Exasperated by the subterfuge, Dylan takes matters into his own hands. He reveals the double whammy to Boyd – not only does everyone know about Boyd’s fling with Serena, but Sky and Dylan kissed while Boyd was in hospital.
Desperate to please Mike, Janae succumbs to pressure and has unprotected sex. She immediately regrets the decision and is worried about the consequences. Mike’s half-hearted avowals of love are cold comfort. She asks Dylan to take her to a late-night chemist for the morning-after pill but he refuses. He’s disgusted by Janae’s blatant lack of self-respect when it comes to guys – as far as he’s concerned she’s on her own now. Mike reluctantly agrees to accompany her but when he stands her up, Janae’s forced to go alone. Fed up with Mike’s attitude, Janae takes it out on his car – it’s where it hurts most.
Bree and Summer are shocked to discover the prize money for the spelling bee is $15,000. They make a pact that no matter the outcome, their friendship won’t be affected. When Janelle learns of the prize money, she amps up the pressure on Bree to win, earmarking it for a deposit on a flat. Susan and Lyn are worried about Bree’s ability to withstand the strain. After a close contest, Bree’s victorious, but it seems her nausea is caused by Janelle rather than stage fright.
